I am an artist and healer who specialises in working ceremonially with the tarot, talismanic artworks and energetic healing.

My intention is to facilitate connections which bring clarity, resonance and a greater sense of meaning. Moving from the heart to reconnect you with your deep, wild, inner-power and natural ability to self-heal.

Divination is not a rigid thing, it moves and shifts and blooms and dies away to pop up again in a new place. Art objects offer a static reminder to your door into the deep. Like us they function both as the seen and unseen self. I wanted to make divinatory objects that people could hold when they feel alone, or when they feel magic or when they feel electric with feeling. In online times we need things to hold and touch and feel and know to aid us in the seen and unseen both. These objects are made to be with you for a lifetime and beyond.

A few years ago, when I was deep in the resurrection of understanding the Purple Diamond; I had a dream in which I was in another place, another body and another time - but so clearly in a powerful medicine space. In this place I saw a few different healing items, the one I was surprised and delighted to see was an image which featured the Purple Diamond at the heart. I knew it was a healing image, a talisman - something deeper than I yet understood.

I woke up and knew I had to paint it, ultimately a very simple image but not very much like what I would normally paint. I vowed to paint it best I could and cut no corners. This meant ten layers of primer, each one laid carefully onto the large square canvas, dried and repeated. I measured out the squares with unusual precision (not my forte) and began to paint them. As I painted, I went off into a little trance as often happens and when I registered my mind again it was berating me in all kinds of ways that were ridiculous but so pointed they hurt: ‘your shaking hands will never paint a straight line’ – ‘you will never be good enough’ ‘give up, you are worthless’ – I was surprised by the voracity of these inner criticisms, was this destructive voice really being carried within me?

Honestly, I felt shaken and unsure, but something in me knew I must keep painting and focusing on creating the shapes with the utmost care. Soon I felt an enormous pain on my right side, so painful I thought I might faint, but I kept painting. I finished the last super fine gold outline and as I took a step back to see it, I felt a kind of burning that seemed to take over my entire body tip-to-toe. Something was happening physically – the painting was moving something in me. I hung the painting and then got into bed, the pain was incredible and lasted all night – I considered going to the emergency room multiple times.

We need mirrors in this world, and to work with healing we need to feel safe/brave/welcome/worthy/energised enough to share true expression with those mirrors. We are communal beings, made to be part of a wider ecosystem full of mirrors. Some healing mirrors are human, some nature – and some are our own or others acts of creation.

Artworks, for me are like living things, when I make them there is a dialogue going on with my unconscious self, my psychic storehouse* (*Jung) – that connects to my own experience and that of all beings. Things start moving through this work, things start shifting. The art itself carries this journey and it carries symbols and strokes and energy and buzz and let’s just say – soul – which speaks with your being too, and can begin to move things.

The art you make, and the art you allow yourself to be in dialogue with does not have to be technically ‘good’, though it might be – the art you like and make might, in fact be challenging, weird, intense or silly – but you’ll know it’s got that something because you just keep looking and looking and looking.

We know that in this hermit year we are asked to look past distractions and attend to what is real, what feeds us and what mirrors back our purpose. Art that is real, art that is healing isn’t always easy – it isn’t always readable with the ego brain.

It asks us to do away with safety through understanding and allow for mystery, allow for the wibbly wobbly invisible threading of our deeper nature and wild selves. When it comes to art – trust your voracity of feeling, in whatever department, be it a voracious sense of calm or activation - and don’t settle for anything less, the eyes love to look – may they look into beauty. For beauty is aliveness.

A little land painting - all paintings around me in my studio, all in different visual languages and yet all of land, body as land, ocean body. The magic of the Earth, perfect mirror.

When I did this years collective readings - so much was about coming back to the material, not letting the spiritual take us off out of our body, not letting our phones do that so much of the time either - coming back to the magic right here calling to us under our feet.

Creating space with the archetype of the Angel 🪽

Balance is a miracle, when you feel out of sorts, or the obstacles feel just too big make space with and for this archetype.

I used a painting, the tarot cards judgment and temperance, salt, white candle moon circle, linen and crystals which felt like balancers to me

Arranging spaces is magic work, what we move and intend in the material had a way of showing up in the spirit and psyche’s realms also.

My general advice is no more than once a month to allow things to simmer - unless you are working with something very intensive and you feel you need support ( but this is more unusual) otherwise anything from once a quarter to once a year or even two.
